About the book
For him, a woman’s body stopped being a mystery long ago. The author sets up a thought experiment and tests a hypothesis: how does a profession change a person’s feelings?
There are many professions, but some are special. Take the photographer who shoots erotic pictures. To my mind there is something scandalous about that line of work, because for a normal man a naked woman is almost always a sexual object. Or take the model: it takes real courage, or real nerve, to undress in front of a strange man.
I became curious about what makes a person choose such an unusual profession. A considered step or pure chance? And once I started thinking, I realised that every profession leaves its mark. A teacher is so used to teaching that he can’t stop even at home, lecturing everyone, whether they need it or not. I know from experience!
Love for a woman has two parts, the spiritual and the physical, and both hold a mystery. But for a photographer the female body is no longer a mystery. So it is logical to assume that he loves differently. That is the hypothesis I set out to prove or disprove in “The Photographer”; you read it and draw your own conclusions, because in matters like these there is no absolute truth.
